Modular Synthesizer

Many videos – mostly modular – are here:

Modular synthesizers are where I seem to spend much of my time, energy and money. They are so much more stimulating to me than software or midi instruments. The Serge:

I really like Tom Bug’s very characterful Bugbrand modular system. I have finally “finished” my little Bug system. It is housed in a little aluminium sailor’s suitcase I picked up (already painted blue!) on a Berlin fleamarket. All my sequencing is done elsewhere so this is a self-contained system.

Currently my full modular system looks like this:

A piece for the Serge Modular Synthesizer, Drum Bunnies, is featured on the Quad Slope Probe 2 compilation available as a Free Download here:

this was a one-take improvisation.

All the pieces here are live unedited one-take recordings and not necessarily intended as in any way finished pieces

Serge with a Thomas White Lo Pass Gate. No conventional VCOs or Filters are used here; instead, self-resonating filter, lo pass gate, Karplus Strong synthesis and Frequency Shifter:

two improvisations driven by the same basic sequence:

Serge improvisations recorded 21/06/2011 – both use the same sequence, just a 2 panel Serge, no external effects or processing:
